Keystone got into the win column for the first time in the history of the program, RPI uncorked an epic late-game comeback against Hobart and Trine ended Olivet's unbeaten run in triple overtime in Division III football action in Week 7 of the 2022 season.

The first 16 games since Keystone started its Division III football program had all ended in disappointment -- with some disappointment more dramatic than others. Keystone led William Paterson in the fourth quarter and was within two in the closing minute at Alfred State before coming up empty. But the 17th time was the charm for the Giants, as they built up a 34-19 lead at Anna Maria on Saturday and had enough to hold on, covering an onside kick in the closing minute to defeat the AMCATs, 41-39. 

The win overshadowed a five-touchdown day from Alex Cohen for Anna Maria, as the quarterback threw for three scores and ran for two more, one of them with 58 seconds to play. But Mujaheed Muhammad had two TDs on the ground for Keystone, on the way to 22 carries for 125 yards, Jayson Nami had a 97-yard kickoff reutrn for a touchdown and Josue Hernandez had two field goals in the first half to key the Keystone attack.

Sophomore quarterback Jake Kazanowsky led a 10-play, 70-yard drive that ended with an 8-yard touchdown pass to senior D.J. Palmer with 24 seconds left in the fourth quarter to give RPI a 14-13 lead and Engineers defeated Hobart 16-13. Kazanowsky found Palmer twice for fourth-quarter touchdowns to help the Engineers rally from a 13-2 deficit. RPI led 2-0 at the half after only two drives crossed midfield in the first 30 minutes. Hobart took a 6-2 lead on a David Krewson TD pass to Alex LaBella late in the third quarter, and took advantage of a short field to add to that total and go up 13-2 after RPI failed on fourth down from its own 40. But that was before RPI's offense benefited from a short punt into the wind, leaving the Engineers just 34 yards to go to the end zone to cut the lead to 13-8. Hobart punted the ball away with 2:50 left, but Kazanowsky drove his team the 70 yards for the go-ahead TD and scrambled for the two-point conversion himself. The Statesmen completed a Hail Mary pass, but Rane Daramola was brought down short of the end zone on the final play.

Trine came out on top at Olivet in a battle of contenders in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association. Olivet went up 21-6 in the first minute of the second half before Trine rallied to tie it at 24 with a 32-yard field goal from Colton Wampler with two seconds left. The teams traded touchdowns in the first overtime, and each scored without a two-point conversion in the second overtime before Trine got the stop on Olivet's dive play from the 3 in the third overtime and converted on its own play from the 3 to win, 39-37. Alex Price threw for three TDs on the day for the Thunder, who improved to 6-1, handing Olivet (5-1, 1-1) its first loss of the season.

Ripon scored two fourth-quarter touchdowns and the Redhawks remained unbeaten as they rallied for a 16-14 win at Lake Forest. It's the first loss in conference play for the Foresters since 2019 and it continues the epic ride that is Ripon's final season under longtime head coach Ron Ernst. Jarrett Zibert threw both TDs and passed for 58 yards and ran for 13 more on the final drive. The Ripon defense held Lake Forest to 8-for-23 passing for 87 yards on the day.

Dean was leading Gallaudet late in the fourth quarter but was backed up to its own 23-yard line as it faced a third-and-2 but quarterback Mozes Mooney (14-for-22, 231 yards) fumbled the ball and lost four yards on the play but regained possession as GU called a timeout with 3:26 left. Dean punter Enrico Hernandez came on to punt deep in Bulldog territory but the punt attempt got blocked by freshman Zefan Nathanson and recovered in the end zone by junior KaVargio Smith for the Bison touchdown. The score gave Gallaudet its first lead of the game with 3:17 left in the game. Washington ran in the two-point conversation to give GU the three-point lead, 26-23 and Gallaudet held on to win, improving to 5-1, 3-0 in the ECFC.

Carleton raced out to a 21-0 first quarter lead and never looked back in securing a 56-20 homecoming victory over St. Scholastica. The Knights are now 6-0 overall and 4-0 in the MIAC, their best start to a season since 1992. During halftime, the playing surface at Laird Stadium was renamed Bob Sullivan Field in honor of the Knights' former head coach, who guided the team during the 1979-2000 seasons and is the program's all-time leader with 102 wins. A large number of Sullivan's former players were in attendance for the unveiling ceremony. In today's contest, Carleton's ground game amassed 197 yards and four scores, including two by MIAC leader Aiden Chang, who had 59 yards on 12 carries in the first quarter.

Kenyon threw a 27-yard touchdown pass to cut the lead to one with 17 seconds left and put its two-point conversion unit on the field at home against Kenyon, but after a delay of game and a second penalty, was forced to settle for a 40-yard extra point attempt. That kick was wide left, and Wooster survived to beat the Owls, 42-41. The wild ending overshadowed a 464-yard performance with six touchdowns from Mateo Renteria. Renteria, who surpassed 9,000 career passing yards and reached 70 passing touchdowns, completed 23 of 33 passes for 377 yards and five scores. On the ground, he ran 11 times for 87 yards and a touchdown.
