Offense
QB Ryan Thronsdet, So., Greensboro
Thronsdet threw for 598 yards in a 31-27 win
against LaGrange, giving Greensboro five wins, tying for the most
wins in program history. He completed 38 of 59 passes, throwing for
four touchdowns with just one interception.
OL Duke Ekblom, Mike MacDonald , Scott Leech,
Andrew Savenelli, Sean Degnan,
Springfield
The Springfield offensive line played a major role in the Pride
racking up a season-best 503 yards on the ground. As a whole, the
Pride's totaled 590 totaled yards of offense, marking the third
time in four games it went over the 500-yard mark.
RB Joel Sweeney, Jr., UW-Eau
Claire
Sweeney had a career day as the Blugolds beat UW-River
Falls 28-7 to end the season. Sweeney completed the game with 281
rushing yards, fourth on the program's single game rushing records
list. He carried the ball 32 times, an average of 8.8 yards per
carry. Sweeney also had two rushing touchdowns, the first being a
65-yard run.
RB Luke Sweeney, Sr.,
Pomona-Pitzer
Sweeney returned to action for his final collegiate game after
missing four weeks with a hamstring injury and had the
third-highest single-game rushing total in school history with 247
yards, 18 shy of his school record. He finished his career over the
3,000-yard mark for his career, helping the team snap an 18-game
losing streak dating to 2010 and ending a five-game losing streak
in the Peace Pipe Game, its annual rivalry game with CMS. He
averaged 7.5 yards per carries and scored twice.
WR Antwan Thorpe, Sr.,
Greensboro
Thorpe had a monster day for the Pride, catching 22 passes for 391
yards and three touchdowns. On a game-winning five-play, 72-yard
drive, Thorpe accounted for four plays and 66 of those yards,
including a 13-yard touchdown with 17 seconds remaining on a
five-play, 72-yard game winning drive.
WR Brian Spencer, Sr.,
Albion
Spencer had 16 catches for 213 yards and two
touchdowns for the Britons in a 28-20 loss to Hope.
TE Sam Marshall, Sr.,
Macalester
Marshall helped Macalester win the Paint Bucket trophy for the
second year in a row, collecting touchdown catches of five and 14
yards as the Scots toppled Hamline 45-21. He had eight catches for
77 yards in the win.
Defense
DE Mark Capetola, Jr.,
Albright
Capetola forced four forced fumbles as Albright held Lebanon
Valley's offense scoreless until the final minute of the game. He
added two and a half sacks and six and a half tackles for loss
among his 11 total tackles.
DT Anthony Monroe, So., Cal
Lutheran
Monroe continued to embrace his starting role with 10 total
tackles, four solo stops, three and a half for a loss. Monroe was
credited with a pair of huge sacks for a loss of 37 combined yards.
In two games he has 25 tackles with three sacks.
DT Nalik Davis, Fr., Cornell
Davis set career highs with 11 total tackles, five tackles for
loss and three sacks in Cornell's first season-ending win since
2002. The defense held Grinnell to 125 yards in the first half as
the Rams built a 25-0 lead.
DE Frank Weymiller, Sr.,
Coe
Weymiller's four sacks were tied for the second most in school
history, to go along with four and a half tackles for loss. He also
forced two fumbles and had 11 tackles, five solo in a win against
Central.
LB Michael Shield, Fr., Rhodes
Shield racked up 21 total tackles, 11 of them solo, as
Rhodes finished its season 6-3 with a 31-24 win against Centre. He
blocked a kick, had a pass breakup, a sack and one and a half
tackles for loss.
LB Richard Logan, Sr., Louisiana
College
Logan, who re-injured his thumb that was already in a cast because
of torn ligaments suffered in practice, had a career high 15
tackles in a 45-37 victory over Hardin-Simmons. Logan had 11 solo
stops, a tackle for loss and two pass breakups.
LB John Hunter, Sr., Washington and
Jefferson
Hunter racked up 15 tackles, the most by a W&J player in 18
contests. He had three and a half tackles for loss in the
Presidents' 31-14 win at Waynesburg.
CB Tim Littles, So.,
Heidelberg
Littles broke up three passes and had 11 tackles, 10 solo, in the
Student Princes' 35-34 win against Baldwin Wallace.
S Zach Dolan, Sr., St. John
Fisher
Dolan picked off Andrew Benkwitt twice, after the Utica
quarterback entered the game having thrown just six picks all year.
He also had three tackles in the 55-20 win.
S Andre Green, Fr., Cortland
State
Green had 10 tackles, four solo, and a pass broken up as Cortland
State defeated Ithaca 16-10 for the Cortaca Jug.
CB Tony Tatum, Sr.,
Gallaudet
Tatum made his presence known against SUNY-Maritime as the
Privateers rarely threw his way in a 21-0 Gallaudet win. When the
throws came his way he made two pass breakups and intercepted a
pass, returning it 80 yards for a touchdown in the second quarter
to give the Bison a 14-0 lead.
Special teams
K Kevin Grady, Jr.,
Redlands
Grady fired off a school-record five field goals in the Bulldogs'
impressive 63-40 win over Whittier on Saturday, capping off the
team's 6-1 showing in SCIAC. He also converted six extra
points.
P Josh Eppler, Jr., Howard
Payne
Eppler broke a Division III record with a 92-yard punt in a 47-6
home loss to Texas Lutheran. Eppler's boom came late in the second
quarter as the Yellow Jackets were facing fourth-and-long on their
own 8-yard line. His punt landed in the TLU end zone. The old
record of 90 yards was accomplished by Redlands' Sean Lipscomb in
2000 and Coe's Dan Heeren in 1974. On the game, Eppler averaged
42.8 yards on nine punts and also made 11 tackles playing free
safety.
RET Josh Mitchell, Sr., North Central
(Ill.)
Mitchell scored North Central's first touchdown on an
80-yard punt return, against an Augustana team which had allowed
just 45 punt return yards all season. He had three other returns of
at least 25 yards and kept the Cardinals' offense operating with a
short field all afternoon as five of NCC's six scoring drives
covered 35 yards or less.
