Muskingum beats Wilmington to secure first back-to-back five-win seasons since 1995 and 1996

The Muskingum football team beat Wilmington on Saturday afternoon to secure its first back-to-back five-win seasons since the 1995 and 1996 campaigns. The Muskies handed the Quakers a 27-13 setback.

  • Muskingum next hosts rival Marietta for Senior Day and the Shriner Game on Saturday, November 12. The game is slated for a 1:30 p.m. kickoff in the Bullock Health and Wellness Complex (BHWC). Senior Day recognition will commence at noon. The game will also feature a pregame tailgate for Muskingum students sponsored by Muskingum Student Senate and Muskingum's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the BHWC. Halftime will feature a special recognition of Muskingum's esports Fortnite National Championship team receiving their championship rings and the championship of the inaugural Spikeball Tournament.

How it Happened

  • Muskingum scored two opening-quarter touchdowns to grab the early momentum. Garrett connected with Edmondson for a 73-yard touchdown and Goodman for a 28-yard score.
  • Garrett scored on a two-yard run in the second quarter to help propel Muskingum to a 20-6 lead heading into the break. The touchdown ended a 13-play, 75-yard drive that took 6:54 off the clock.
  • Garrett scampered for a nine-yard score midway through the third quarter to complete the Muskie scoring and cap off a four-touchdown performance.
