WINCHESTER, Va. – Junior Drew Campanale (Shrewsbury, Mass./Shrewsbury) threw for 297 yards and four touchdowns and senior David Wallis (Cedar Point, N.C./Croatan) had seven catches for 162 yards and four scores as No. 16 Randolph-Macon at Shenandoah on Saturday afternoon in ODAC action.

The Basics:

Score: Randolph-Macon 35. Shenandoah 21

Location/Venue: Winchester, Va./Sprint Field at Shentel Stadium

Records: Randolph-Macon 7-0, 4-0 ODAC; Shenandoah 5-2, 2-2 ODAC

How it Happened:

  • The Yellow Jackets took the opening kickoff and drove to the SU 26 but were stopped on fourth down. The defense forced a Hornet punt and R-MC took over on its own 39. Facing 3rd and 20 from the SU 32, Campanale hit Wallis on a TD pass to give the Yellow Jackets a 7-0 lead with 3:35 left in the first period.
  • SU moved to the RM 17, but junior Jaden Ferriera (Waldorf, Md./Thomas Stone) snagged a deflected pass in the end zone for an interception. The Yellow Jackets drove to the SU 2, but an interception gave the ball back to the home team. Following a punt, Campanale capped a four-play drive with a 55-yard touchdown pass to Wallis to make it 14-0 with 6:42 remaining in the second quarter.
  • After another Hornet punt, R-MC went 74 yards in 12 plays. Campanale found senior Joey Hunt (Olney, Md./Sherwood) in the end zone from seven yards out with 38 seconds left. The extra point was missed as the Yellow Jackets led 20-0 at the half.
  • The Hornets scored on their first possession of the third period to make it 20-7. R-MC took the ball to the SU 1 but was stopped on downs.
  • Following a Hornet punt, Campanale ended a 70-yard drive with a three-yard TD run to give the Yellow Jackets a 28-7 lead with 12:29 remaining in the final period.
  • SU tallied a touchdown quickly to make it 28-14 with 10:57 left. R-MC used 5:27 to go 64 yards in 10 plays, as Campanale hit Wallis with an 11-yard scoring toss as the advantage grew to 35-14 with 5:24 remaining.
  • The Hornets added a touchdown with 3:17 left to make the final 35-21.
