Dutchmen Defense Dominates In Rain At Alvernia

READING, Pa. – Noah Caldani led a strong defensive performance by the Lebanon Valley football team in a 32-6 victory over host Alvernia University on Saturday afternoon to stay unbeaten in Middle Atlantic Conference play.

LVC won their third straight game and improved to 3-0 in MAC play with the win. The Dutchmen are one of only two undefeated teams left in the conference after Saturday's games. The game got off to a shaky start for the Dutchmen as Alvernia drove the ball 59 yards in 10 plays on the first drive of the game. LVC stopped the Golden Wolves on fourth down and then forced punts on the next three possessions of the half.

The Dutchmen scored the first nine points of the game in the second quarter with Devin Crone connecting on three field goals. His first attempt was good from 24 yards and then he drilled a 40-yarder to make it a 6-0 game. He nailed a 27-yarder with 25 seconds left to give LVC a 9-0 lead going into the locker room.
The Dutchmen scored touchdowns on three consecutive offensive possessions in the third and fourth quarters to put the game away. Caldani picked off a pass with 4:25 to go in the third giving the Dutchmen great field position at the Alvernia 8. Three plays later Braden Bohannon scored on a quarterback keeper from one yard out. The Dutchmen blocked an Alvernia punt on the next drive with the ball slipping out the back of the end zone for a safety.

The fourth quarter began with Bohannon finding Jay Sisko wide open over the middle for a 32-yard touchdown reception. The Golden Wolves scored on a 77-yard run to cut the lead down to 25-6 with just under 13 minutes to go in the game. LVC responded with a 75-yard drive that took 9:07 off the clock and ended with a Dion Bryant one-yard touchdown run to set the final score.
