THE LEAD:
Sophomore Terrell Watts (New Haven, Conn.) accounted for five touchdowns and visiting Dean College stormed past Gallaudet University, 56-35, in Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) football action on Saturday afternoon.

Watts tossed a trio of touchdown passes and ran for two more as the Bulldogs racked up 485 yards of total offense and moved into sole possession of first place in the conference standings.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Bulldog offense was clicking on all cylinders from the beginning of the game as they marched 59 yards in ten plays on the opening drive and Watts hit Quintus Reid (New Haven, Conn.) from 12 yards out to give Dean a 7-0 lead.

The game was tied at 7-7 when the Bulldog offense got the ball next and they found the endzone again – this time on a four-yard touchdown burst from D'Andre Cosby (White Plains, N.Y.).

After the Bison scored to even the score at 14-14, Dean went on to score 36 straight points beginning with a two-yard touchdown run from Saquan Kelly (Stamford, Conn.), a seven-yard touchdown grab from Steven Rivera (Worcester, Mass.) and then before the first half ended, a two-yard run from Michael Bethune, Jr. (New Haven, Conn.).

In front 35-14 at the half, the Bulldogs continued scoring, getting a five-yard touchdown run from Watts and then a ten-yard touchdown catch from Ki'Sean Bullard (Miami, Fla.).

Gallaudet scored on an 80-yard kickoff return to snap the Dean scoring spree, but Watts answered with an incredible 14-yard touchdown run that saw him bobble the shotgun snap, then it bounce off the shoulder pad of Bethune, Jr. only to have Watts regain control of the ball. He sprinted right, stumbling before regaining his footing to break two tackles and then beat two defenders to the corner for his fifth touchdown of the day.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
Dean was extremely efficient offensively, converting nine of 12 third downs and both of their fourth down attempts and only punted once. They controlled time of possession (39:04) and ran for a season-best 236 yards, while the defense limited the potent Bison rushing attack to just 122 yards on the ground.

Watts was 20-for-26 passing for 249 yards, while Reid ended with nine catches for 111 yards, while Kelly finished with a game-best 80 yards on the ground.

Wadell Alceus (Apopka, Fla.) made seven tackles for the Bulldog defense and both Shannon Moxey (Austell, Ga.) and Desmond Dias (Rochester, Mass.) each had 1.5 tackles for loss.

UP NEXT:
The Bulldogs have two games left on their regular season schedule – both at home – starting with Saturday's meeting with Alfred State at 12:00 PM.
