#12 Brockport Stifles Hartwick Football

BROCKPORT, NY – Unbeaten Brockport (7-0, 5-0 E8), which is ranked No. 12 in the latest D3football.com poll, held the high-powered Hartwick offense scoreless on Saturday, 45-0. The Hawks fall to 3-5 and 2-3 with the loss.

The Hawks, who entered the game averaging 478 yards of total offense, second only to the Golden Eagles in the Empire 8, were limited to only 167 yards in the contest. Hartwick quarterbacks were sacked 11 times in the game with the Golden Eagles registering 16 tackles for loss.

Hartwick quarterback Billy Pine (Hoosick Falls, NY/Hoosick Falls) connected on 11-of-20 passes for 134 yards. He was intercepted three times on the day. Koree Reed (Baldwinsville, NY/Baldwinsville) made five receptions for 57 yards while Brad Garcia (Warwick, NY/Warwick Valley) made three catches for 61 yards. Dylan Mucci (Cortlandt Manor, NY/Iona Prep) had three receptions for 26 yards. Ronald Ballard (Deposit, NY/Deposit HS) ran the ball 12 times for 37 yards.

Brockport was paced by quarterback Joe Germinerio who completed 10 of his 18 attempts for 259 yards and four touchdowns. DaQuan Hubbard made three catches for 140 yards and two scores, including 79-yard and 52-yard touchdown catches. Christian Hollister gained 77 yards with a touchdown on nine carries.

The Golden Eagles would score points on each of their first four possessions. They also turned two first-quarter interceptions into touchdowns which quickly turned a 3-0 Hartwick deficit into a 17-0 one in a 2:45 span.
Hubbard's 79-yard touchdown reception increased the margin to 24-0 early in the second quarter. After the Hawks punted on their next possession to give the ball back to Brockport, Eugene Allen (Laurel, NY/Mattituck HS) picked off Germinerio and the Hawks would produce their best drive of the day. They would drive the ball 68 yards on nine plays to the Brockport 28 but ultimately turned the ball over on downs.
The Golden Eagles would score another touchdown with under a minute left in the second quarter and they would take a 31-0 lead into halftime.

A Hollister 2-yard run with 1:12 left would be the only scoring in the third quarter. Germinerio hit Hubbard for a 52-yard touchdown pass 1:23 into the fourth quarter to round out the day's scoring.

Josh Wilcox (Ithaca, NY/Candor HS) tied for a game-high with 10 tackles for 'Wick. Tom Peabody (Hoosick Falls, NY/Hoosick Falls HS) contributed eight hits and a sack. Joe Tecklenburg (Washingtonville, NY/Washingtonville HS) and Chris Goudy (Queensbury, NY/Queensbury HS) added six tackles each. Tecklenburg also forced a fumble. Connor Vlasaty (Yorktown Heights, NY/Somers HS) and Nick Richard (Greenwich, NY/Schuylerville HS) chipped in five tackles apiece.

Hartwick has a bye week next Saturday. The Hawks return to action on Saturday, November 4 against Buffalo State.
