BALTIMORE, MD - The ninth-ranked Johns Hopkins football team jumped out to a 34-0 halftime lead and senior quarterback Braden Anderson threw for 306 yards and four touchdowns in just over one half of action as the Blue Jays improved to 7-0 overall and 6-0 in the Centennial Conference with a 37-14 victory over visiting Gettysburg Friday night at Homewood Field.

In addition to winning for the 40th time in their last 41 regular season games, the Blue Jays also handed head coach Jim Margraff his 174th career victory, which ties him with legendary Morgan State coach Eddie Hurt as the winningest college football coach in Maryland state history; Hurt won 174 games from 1929-59. Margraff, who is now in his 25th season as the head coach at Johns Hopkins, improves to 174-82-3 since taking over at Homewood in 1990.

Anderson led the Blue Jays to touchdowns on the first three possessions and capped off the first two with touchdowns passes of 35 yards to Stuart Walters and 50 yards to Bradley Munday. Walters' 35-yard touchdown reception came after the Blue Jay defense stopped Gettysburg on a fourth-and-one on its opening possession of the game, while Munday's came on the first play of Hopkins' second drive.

The Johns Hopkins defense allowed just 21 yards in the first quarter and the Blue Jay offense made it three touchdowns in three possessions after another Gettysburg three-and-out after Munday's touchdown. Anderson directed the eight-play, 51-yard drive to near perfection as he was 5-of-6 for 38 yards before Walters darted the final 15 yards to the end zone to make it 21-0 just 11:29 into the game.

While the pace slowed, the Blue Jays added a three-yard Anderson-to-Boone Lewis touchdown midway through the second quarter and a 40-yard Anderson-to-Dionisio Roman touchdown less than two minutes before the half to account for the 34-0 lead at intermission.

Margraff subbed liberally in the second half and Gettysburg sandwiched two touchdown runs from Kyle Wigley - a 21-yard scamper in the third quarter and a 40-yard run in the fourth - around a 33-yard field goal by Jamie Sullivan to account for the final scoring.

Anderson's 306 yards are the second-highest total of his career, while his four touchdown passes match his career high. Munday had six receptions for 124 yards and the one score, while Walters rushed for a team-high 72 yards and the one touchdown to go along with his 35-yard touchdown catch.

The Blue Jay defense sacked Gettysburg quarterback Zach Miller five times and 158 of the Bullets' 287 yards of total offense came in the fourth quarter. Keith Corliss posted a team-high six tackles, while seniors Michael Rocca and Michael Longo each had 1.5 sacks on the night.

Quigley rushed 12 times for 131 yards and the two touchdowns to lead the way offensively for the Bullets, but Miller was just 11-of-31 for 77 yards and threw one interception. The Blue Jay defense has allowed a total of 121 passing yards in the last two games.

Johns Hopkins will return to action on Saturday, November 1 when the Blue Jays travel to Ursinus.
