Oberlin won its first game in more than four years when it defeated Kenyon 53-22 in a North Coast Athletic Conference game at the Dill Field.

With the win, the Yeomen snapped a 44-game losing streak which was the longest in all divisions of NCAA football. The last time Oberlin had won was in the opening game of the 1997 season when they defeated Thiel 18-17. Oberlin also snapped a 59-game NCAC losing streak that dated back to the 1992 season when Oberlin defeated Kenyon 14-8. 

Concordia (Ill.) now has the longest active losing streak in Division III, at 25 games, dating to a 27-20 win at Principia on Sept. 11, 1999.

Oberlin (1-5, 1-3) opened up the scoring when Scott Barker caught a 24-yard pass from Ryan Squatrito and Steve Willever added the extra point with 3:03 remaining in the first period. The Yeomen then scored when Sam Hobi blocked a punt by Patrick Howell and Scott Barker recovered the ball in the end zone for the score. Willever hit the extra point to give Oberlin a 14-0 lead. 

The Yeomen jumped out to a 17-0 lead when Willever hit a 36-yard field goal with 4:48 left in the second quarter. Kenyon got their only point of the first half when Milan Perazich caught a 21-yard pass from Tony Miga and Ben Woodcock hit the extra point with 1:10 before the half. 

Oberlin opened up the second-half scoring when Scott Barker scored his third touchdown of the game on a 22-yard reverse and Willever added the extra point with 11:54 left in the third period. The Yeomen scored on a 42-yard run by Travis Oman and Willever added the extra point with 9:50 left in the third quarter. The Lords then scored on a 2-yard run by Tony Miga and Milan Perazich caught the two point conversion with seven seconds to go in the third quarter. Oberlin got its first score of the fourth quarter when Ryan Squatrito scored on a 3-yard run but the extra point by Willever was blocked by Matt Lane of Kenyon and Oberlin's Adam Polisei recovered the ball for the two-point conversion with 7:32 left to play. 

The Yeomen then scored when David Lightfoot reached the end zone on a 56-yard run. Oberlin got its final points of the game when David Smolev scored on a 41-yard fumble recovery and Willever hit the extra points. Kenyon scored the final points of the game when Andy Pillay caught a 8-yard pass from Tony Miga and Ben Woodcock hit the extra point.
