Salve Regina assistant hired at Hiram

Hiram athletic director Todd Hibbs announced the appointment of Jack Mrozinski Jr. as the 32nd head coach of the Hiram Terriers football program. Mrozinski joins the Terriers from Salve Regina, where he served as defensive coordinator for the past three seasons.

Mrozinksi replaces Chris Rosselot, who served as interim coach for the final four games of Hiram's 0-10 season. Rosselot had replaced Henry Stanford, who compiled a 7-29 record in his three-plus seasons at the helm.

"It's time for the Jack Mrozinski era of Hiram College football," Hibbs said. "Mrozinski impressed at every stop on campus – from our team, to the search committee, to our staff – he earned our respect and trust in this process. We know what he is going to do, and we can't wait to show the entire Terrier Nation where this football program is headed. I'd like to thank the committee who worked tirelessly in bringing Jack and an amazingly competitive pool of candidates to our campus."

During his time at Salve Regina, Mrozinski helped lead the Seahawks to a 17-13 (11-7 CCC) record and a Commonwealth Coast Conference co-championship, as well as a New England Bowl berth in 2018.

"I would like to thank Todd Hibbs and the search committee for this opportunity to be the next Hiram head football coach," Mrozinski said. "My family and I couldn't be more excited to be a part of the Hiram College community. The people on campus and the passion they showed for Hiram College and its football program was very apparent during the interviewing process and gives me great confidence in the future. I can't wait to get started."

With the Seahawks, Mrozinski's defensive units consistently finished at the top of the conference, finishing first in scoring defense in 2017, and second in 2018 and 2019 as well as first in yards per game in 2017 and 2018 and second in 2019.

Under Mrozinski's watch, the Seahawks' defense placed 14 student-athletes on the all-conference teams over his three years at Salve Regina, including the CCC Defensive Player of the Year each of the past two seasons. Mrozinski also coached two D3football.com All-East Region honorees and three New England Football Writers All-Stars during his time at Salve Regina.

In addition to his duties as defensive coordinator, Mrozinski also coached the linebackers for one season, and the defensive backs for two seasons during his time with the Seahawks.

Prior to joining Salve Regina, Mrozinski spent six seasons as an assistant coach at Ithaca. Mrozinski started with the Bombers in 2011 as the special teams coordinator, defensive backs coach and recruiting coordinator, adding video coordinator duties as well during his final four years with Ithaca.

Mrozinski helped the Bombers to back-to-back Empire 8 conference championships and NCAA Division III playoff berths in 2013 and 2014, while coaching 12 All-Liberty League players, two Conference Players of the Year and two All-Americans during his time at Ithaca.

Previously, Mrozinski spent a season as the special teams and safeties coach at Widener from 2010-2011, as well as a season as the assistant defensive backs coach at NCAA Div. I-AA Hofstra.

Before joining the Pride, Mrozinski served two seasons as an assistant football coach at Muhlenberg, helping the Mules to back-to-back Centennial Conference championships and playoff berths in 2007 and 2008.

Mrozinski began his coach career at his alma mater, Buffalo State College in Buffalo, N.Y., spending the spring as an assistant coach with the Bengals in 2007.

A 2006 graduate of Buffalo State, Mrozinski played four seasons for the Bengals as a quarterback and long snapper. During his time with the Bengals, Mrozinski earned the Coaches Award, given to the player(s) who "exemplify and demonstrate special character", in the Fall of 2006 and the Al Abgott Attitude Award, given to an "unselfish, unsung player who never misses a responsibility to the team and is always pushing players around him to be better" in the Fall of 2004 and 2005.

Mrozinski earned his bachelor's degree in communications from Buffalo State in May 2006 and his master's degree in communications from Ithaca College in August 2015.

A member of the American Football Coaches Association, Mrozinski and his wife, Kaitlyn have one son, Jack III.

The Terriers open the 2020 season on Saturday, Sept. 5 in Bethany, W. Va. with a matchup against Bethany at Bison Stadium at 7:00 p.m.
