Buffalo State and Delaware Valley each put up big numbers on some pretty successful defenses on Saturday, as the Bengals knocked off No. 13 Ithaca and the Aggies outran No. 20 Lycoming in Week 6 action.
With Buffalo State down 17-7 in the second quarter, Dan Serignese came in to replace Kyle Hoppy at quarterback andled the Bengals to 31 unanswered points as the Bengals knocked off No. 13 Ithaca 38-27.
Serignese finished 9-for-13 with three touchdowns as Buffalo State improves to 5-1, 3-1, matching its win total from all of last season. Mitch Thomas picked off Ithaca's Tom Dempsey twice.
Rasheed Bailey caught nine passes for 195 yards and a touchdown and Chris Smallwood had 180 yards and a score on 25 carries as Delaware Valley scored 50-plus for the fourth consecutive game, defeating No. 20 Lycoming 52-42.
It's Lyco's first loss of the season, while Delaware Valley improved to 5-0. The Aggies held Craig Needhammer to 63 yards on the ground. The Warriors (5-1) had only given up 50 points all season entering the game. It's the most points Lycoming has given up since the 1997 Stagg Bowl loss to Mount Union.
No. 16 UW-Stevens Point scored two fourth-quarter touchdowns, the last a 45-yard pass from Kyle Larson to Alex Wallace with 6:52 left, to salt away its win vs. UW-Eau Claire, 30-3. Seventh-ranked Wartburg had little trouble with Coe, shutting the Kohawks out 43-0 and limiting them to 13-for-34 passing. Wartburg had 10 plays of 20 yards or longer in the win.
Hobart shut down the Springfield triple option to the tune of allowing just 145 rushing yards and generally had its way with the Pride in a 37-7 win. Trayvon Toney had 15 tackles and a forced fumble, while Tyre Coleman had a sack, no mean feat against a team which almost never attempts a pass. It's his 42nd career sack. Springfield entered the game averaging 417 rushing yards per game.

Brady Grayvold picked off two passes, returning one of them for a touchdown as top-ranked UW-Whitewater won 37-0 at UW-Stout. Justin Howard and Jake Kumerow each caught seven passes, for 124 and 113 yards, respectively, and a touchdown in the win, while the Warhawks defense racked up eight tackles for loss. Whitewater has allowed just seven points in the last three games and 27 points all season.
Roman Namdar caught seven passes for 176 yards and a touchdown and four players had between 64 and 93 yards rushing as No. 3 Mount Union rolled over Ohio Northern 62-0. Patrick Angle completed 13 of 25 passes for the Polar Bears, but had just 42 passing yards and was picked off once in the loss.
No. 5 Linfield welcomed its new neighbor, George Fox, to Division III football with a 59-0 win. The schools last met in football in 1941. George Fox compiled just 82 yards of total offense.
St. John Fisher jumped out to a 28-0 halftime lead and cruised to a 42-13 win vs. Hartwick. The Cardinals held the Hawks to just 22 rushing yards.
The new-look, running game-focused Pioneers of No. 17 UW-Platteville got a 43-yard field goal at the end of the first half to take a 10-7 lead, then took advantage of two UW-River Falls fumbles to score two quick TDs in the third quarter and went on to beat the Falcons 24-14.
