Birmingham-Southern needed to sandwich two fourth-quarter touchdowns around a quick three-and-out to come from behind to beat first-year Hendrix 35-32.
Of six programs new or new to Division III in action on Week 1, Hendrix was the only one to win, and a 2-0 start looked possible after it rallied from down 21-3 to take a 24-21 lead on two Casey Caton touchdown catches from Seth Peters, and Travus McMahon's 2-yard TD catch with 13:40 left.
But BSC turned it back on, quickly going 58 yards in 1:57 to score on its next drive, holding Hendrix to 2 yards and a punt, and adding another touchdown on a drive that lasted just 1:45.
In Glassboro, N.J., Tevin Jones caught touchdown passes of 42 and 17 yards in the first half to give the visiting Rams the advantage, but Matt Dortch scored the Profs' first touchdown after a 16-yard punt gave Rowan and short field, and Todd Guillaume scored the go-ahead touchdown on a 25-yard catch with 6:40 left.

Montclair got the victory despite compiling just 111 yards of total offense. Salve had more than twice as many yards (255) but ran nearly twice as many plays to do so (93).
Merchant Marine picked up a Coast Guard fumble on fourth down and scored the go-ahead touchdown with 2:48 left in the Secretaries' Cup rivalry game and the Mariners held on to win 27-20. Mariners quarterback Matthew McDaniels rushed for 245 yards and three touchdowns, including the game-winner from 10 yards out.
Wash U was stuck on seven points for three quarters last week against UW-Whitewater and needed overtime to break into double digits this week, but did so, defeating Rhodes 10-7 in double overtime.
Joel Sweeney ran for 266 yards but it wasn't enough as St. John's ran out to a 17-0 lead against UW-Eau Claire and held on to win 17-14. Connor Bruns returned to the starting lineup at quarterback for the Johnnies after one week as the backup.
Freshman Austin Tennessee returned a fumble 99 yards for a touchdown and classmate Trey Lee ran for a score as well to lift Stevenson past Albright 24-18. Lycoming bounced back from a Week 1 loss to defeat Wilkes 34-18.
Buffalo State piled up 598 yards of total offense and improved to 2-0 for the first time since 1999 with a 42-40 victory over visiting Brockport to claim the I-90 Bowl trophy for the third time in four years. Casey Kacz was 25-for-34 for 387 yards for the Bengals, who host UW-Whitewater next week. Jake Spalik became Brockport's all-time career receiving leader in the defeat.
Methodist started 2-0 for the first time since 2000, as Max Reber's 19-yard touchdown pass to Vaughn Cross with 2:51 left lifted the Monarchs to a 41-34 win over visiting Guilford. Joe Rollins ran for three first-half touchdowns and 219 yards total as McDaniel snapped a 13-game losing streak by beating Moravian, 21-14. A year after going winless, Olivet is off to a 2-0 start as the Comets defeated Wisconsin Lutheran 14-10.
Christopher Newport picked off Nash Nance five times as Hampden-Sydney rolled up 364 yards through the air but no touchdowns in a 17-7 CNU win. It's the first time Christopher Newport has started the season 2-0.
Matthew Green had 7 catches for 164 yards as the MASCAC's Bridgewater State beat the NJAC's William Paterson, 41-24.
Waynesburg broke a 42-all tie in a shootout with Frostburg State with an Alex Henry field goal midway through the fourth quarter and a Kyle Richey fumble return in a 59-49 win. Dean Kennedy completed a 3-yard touchdown pass to Thomas Hayes, then ran for the game-winning two point conversion with 15 seconds to play to lead Rochester to a 28-27 win vs. Thiel.
Puget Sound got its season underway in much the same way the previous two went. Chapman roared out to a 34-0 lead and defeated Puget Sound 57-14. It's the 20th consecutive loss for UPS.
On the same week that All-American receiver Brandon Boyle and quarterback George Busharis were arrested for retail theft, Castleton State was beaten handily by Endicott, 43-7. A 10-yard touchdown pass from freshman Garrett Dellechiaie to junior Phillip Saint-Juste as time expired propelled visiting Fitchburg State to a 20-19 win over Curry. The Colonels fell to 0-2.
