Matt Piloto and Jeremy Murray, two junior starters for Mount Union in Stagg Bowl XXXIX, will not be playing for the Purple Raiders this season.

Piloto, who started the final seven games for Mount Union at quarterback after Neal Seaman was hurt, finished as the Purple Raiders' leading passer at 180-for-281 for 2,245 yards. He threw 21 touchdowns and nine interceptions, getting picked off twice in the national semifinal against Wesley and twice by UW-Whitewater in the championship game. Piloto, who also played basketball last year for the Purple Raiders, did not save a 10th semester of eligibility to complete his football career.

Murray is not academically eligible for the Purple Raiders this season. He averaged 115.3 yards per game on the ground, 5.5 yards per carry, and has rushed for 3,346 yards in his Mount Union career.

Mount Union has a D3football.com All-America selection waiting in the wings at running back for 2013. Germany Woods announced earlier this summer he would be transferring from Heidelberg to Mount Union. However, because of Ohio Athletic Conference rules regarding transfers between conference schools, he is not eligible to play until 2013.

Seaman returns at quarterback for the Purple Raiders for his senior year. Roman Namdar, who played sparingly as a freshman but got a snap in the Stagg Bowl, and Kevin Burke, also a sophomore, will back him up.
