Salisbury rolls, Kean stumbles

Salisbury didn't have to run all over Alfred to beat the Saxons 69-0. The Sea Gulls got 140 of their 392 yards through the air and held Alfred to 6-for-24 passing.

No. 18 Salisbury rolled No. 23 Alfred and No. 10 Kean's undefeated run ended at the hands of 1-5 Brockport State to kick off Saturday's Top 25 results.

The Sea Gulls crushed Alfred 69-0 behind five turnovers, as well as a blocked punt that set Salisbury up on the 2-yard line. Even without Randal Smedley, Salisbury was dominant on the ground en route to 252 yards rushing and 392 yards overall.

Kean fell 28-20 at Brockport State, as Joe Scibilia threw for 300 yards and ran for 73 in the win. It is Brockport's first win of the season against five defeats and comes on the heels of a 7-6 squeaker loss by Kean against TCNJ and a comeback victory against Buffalo State. Jake Spalik caught two touchdown passes and threw another.

Alabama's newly ranked team didn't last long as Centre pulled away in the fourth quarter to beat No. 24 Birmingham-Southern. The Colonels scored twice in the final 3:05 to beat the Panthers 45-20. Simpson spoiled homecoming at No. 19 Wartburg, rallying to force overtime, then blocking the Knights' extra point in the extra session to win 38-37.

Fifth-ranked Linfield clinched its 56th consecutive winning season, cruising past Pacific 49-6. No. 8 Thomas More squeaked past St. Vincent 20-17 after the Bearcats held a slim 10-7 halftime lead. Third-ranked St. Thomas jumped out to a 42-0 halftime lead and the starters sat the entire second half of a homecoming 49-0 win against Hamline. Hamline has been held scoreless in four consecutive games.

Redlands scored 27 of the final 30 points of the game and Taylor Irwin caught a Hail Mary on the last play of the game to avoid the upset as the No. 15 Bulldogs rallied past Claremont-Mudd-Scripps 30-24. Watch the final play, then more coverage follows:

No. 16 Illinois Wesleyan held Elmhurst to half of its yardage average, keeping the Bluejays to 249 yards in a 24-12 victory. Joey Driver caught six passes for 105 yards and a score for the Titans. No. 12 Wabash nearly coughed up a 30-3 lead but held on to defeat Oberlin 37-23.

Jasper Collins had four touchdown catches to lead No. 2 Mount Union in a 56-7 blowout of Heidelberg. No. 9 Bethel struggled but got past Gustavus Adolphus 41-27, setting up a top 10 meeting next week with St. Thomas. Delaware Valley defeated Albright 20-10 to improve to 7-0 for the first time since 2005. Tyler Neal's fourth-quarter touchdown run put the No. 14 Aggies up two scores and the Delaware Valley defense did the rest. No. 17 Wheaton had little trouble with North Park in shutting the Vikings out 28-0, while No. 6 North Central got its offense fired back up in a 61-14 win at Millikin.
