Frankie Feaster and Robert Shufford lead the D3football.com 2019 All-South Region team. Feaster was named South Region Defensive Player of the Year, while Shufford was named the South Region Offensive Player of the Year.
Bridgewater coach Mike Clark, who led the Eagles to the Division III playoffs for the first time since 2005, is the South Region Coach of the Year. It’s his first selection as a D3football.com regional Coach of the Year. Bridgewater finished the 2019 campaign with a 10-1 mark.
Feaster, a senior from Montvale, New Jersey, has recorded 14 sacks and blocked four kicks from his defensive end position in helping lead Muhlenberg to its first trip to the NCAA Division III semifinals. He has recorded 60 tackles on the season, 36 of them solo, including 23.5 tackles for loss, four pass breakups and a fumble recovery.
Shufford, a junior from McKenzie, Alabama, ran for 1,834 yards for the Panthers this season, helping lead the team to a 7-3 record and a third-place finish in the Southern Athletic Association. Shufford averaged 8.7 yards per carry, and 183.4 yards per game, including 238 yards on 26 carries in a win vs. Berry. He scored 15 touchdowns on the ground and had two more through the air.
The teams, selected in balloting by South Region sports information directors and D3football.com staff, were chosen from 246 nominations by Division III member schools. A total of 75 players were chosen. Players nominated for All-Region are eligible to be considered for D3football.com All-America honors, which will be announced the evening of Dec. 20, in D3football.com’s pregame coverage for Stagg Bowl XLVII.
